During Hari Raya Aidilfitri, many Muslims open the doors of their homes to welcome all.

The tradition, which brings together people irrespective of creed, culture and position, is also embraced by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the corporate sector.

For many, it is an opportunity to catch up with relatives and friends while celebrating the festive season.

But a recent open house at Dataran Merdeka turned ugly when visitors, both young and old, men and women, scramble for free KFC.

Manners Make The Person

In the video, which lasted almost three minutes, some individuals were ‘in pain’ due to the crowding.

Many were disappointed when told there was no more KFC to give out.

The video went viral with more than that 330,000 views and more than 1,000 comments.

Netizens were annoyed to see the situation happening in Malaysia and likened it to refugees.

They also expressed regret that the standard of manners and etiquette are slipping.

They blame on the organizer for not making sure that the guests queue up properly.

Some expressed concern that there are still people who could not afford to eat KFC.

However, others feel that people will always scramble for free stuff even if they can afford to buy it.

Perhaps, the pace at which consumers prices skyrocket is getting the better of good manners.
