A posting on social media went viral today following a complaint about a teacher’s attitude.
The teacher allegedly taught students on social media through a ‘live broadcast’ or ‘live’.
Accordingly, some teachers had been teaching ‘live‘ on platforms such as TikTok and Facebook.
During one such session by a teacher with the username @cikgu4eva, someone asked if such methods should be allowed.
kalau nk mengajar time live, better not do it in school compounds. you’re risking not only yours but your students, colleagues and many more personal information being exposed without consent. https://t.co/ZzQGiqdHW6

The question prompted a person in the background to retort by saying that it shouldn’t be a problem, as it is a common practice nowadays.
Consequently, many netizens think such methods are not appropriate.
Aside from privacy concerns, it is a concern that teachers are most likely unable to focus entirely on the students.

In a response, a spokesperson for the Minister of Education, Radzi Jidin, issued a statement prohibiting public officials from using social media for personal purposes during office hours.
Pegawai awam dilarang menggunakan media sosial untuk tujuan PERIBADI semasa waktu PEJABAT samada menerusi peralatan komputer / alat mudah alih dibekalkan oleh pejabat / melalui peralatan peribadi.

Why Do Teachers Use TikTok?
Teachers can use TikTok to create short videos on specific subjects that students can watch.
This is great for explaining lesson concepts.
Not only does it mean a short and to the point video, but one that can be watched multiple times so students are able to revisit the guidance when working on the task.
When done right, TikTok can be an excellent recruiting and nurturing tool for younger demographics.
