Easily Tired & Short Of Breath Post-Covid? Doctor Shares ‘Deep Breathing’ Technique

Are you one of those who are easily tired and often short of breath after being infected with Covid-19?
According to Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medical Officer, Dr Hadi Othman, these are the effects of the Covid-19 virus.
Former Covid-19 patients may experience post-Covid or Long Covid syndrome, in which symptoms persist for a period of more than 12 weeks.
According to a clinical study by the Ministry of Health (KKM), 66% of patients suffer from the post-Covid syndrome, and among the most common symptoms are:
- Fatigue
- Cough
- Breathing difficulties
- Difficulty sleeping at night/restlessness
Overcoming Post-Covid Tiredness, Shortness Of Breath And Sneezing
According to Dr Hadi, post-Covid fatigue and frequent shortness of breath can be mitigated by practising proper breathing techniques or Deep Breathing Exercises.
Dr Hadi demonstrated the breathing techniques in a TikTok video which has since gone viral.

Deep breathing exercises can lessen feelings of anxiety and stress, which are common for someone who experienced severe symptoms or was admitted to a hospital.
Sleep quality may also improve with these breathing exercises.
The exercises can be started at home during self-isolation and easily incorporated into your daily routine.
Other Post-Covid Syndrome Effects
There are many symptoms you can experience after a Covid-19 infection.
A long covid is a condition in which a person feels the following symptoms 4 weeks and beyond after being positive for Covid-19.
According to Dr Erna Nadia, among the symptoms are:
- Fatigue/tiredness
- Cough
- Headache
- Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
- Shortness of breath
- Need more effort to exercise
- Chest pain
- Fast/pounding heartbeats
- Joint pain
- Stomach ache
- Diarrhoea
- Easy fever
- Easy to grow rashes/hives
- Mood changes
- Loss of sense of smell/taste
- Changes in the menstrual cycle
- It’s easy to feel sick

If you experience severe and prolonged symptoms after the Covid-19 infection, it is advisable to go to a nearby clinic or hospital for treatment.
