What share of policing is devoted to handling crimes?

Perhaps not as much as you might think.

Sometimes their work did not involve the use of their law enforcement powers as they go the extra mile to serve the public.

In a can-do optimism about police capabilities, netizens praised a traffic policeman for going out of his way to help others.

The moment was captured in a recent viral video on Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement (JSPT)’s Facebook page.

The video showed a traffic police officer clearing out blocked drainage by the roadside after heavy rain.

At the time of writing, the video was viewed more than 150,000 times.

The moment was also recorded and shared by netizens on their social media account.

Truly, social media has played a key role in providing a good representation of how the police interact with the public.

At the same time, netizens blamed the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) for flash floods during downpours and similar problems.

They criticised the City Hall for not doing its job in cleaning and clearing drains of rubbish.

Netizens are disappointed that DBKL failed to do their job despite funding and allocations for road maintenance.
