Malaysia may be able to reopen its borders for tourists and international travellers as early as 1 March 2022!

According to Malay Mail, a proposal has been agreed on by members of the National Recovery Council (NRC). Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin noted that this proposal was a mutual decision by all members, not a personal one.

He pointed out that the reopening of our borders are vital in reviving the nation’s economy. Business and tourism industries have been hit especially hard during these two years.

Muhyiddin also said that Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has mentioned that compulsary quarantines will not be necessary.

The proposal, which suggests reopening borders as early as 1 March, is now waiting for approval from Prime Minister Ismail Sabri and his cabinet.
