Students from higher learning institutions (IPT) are allowed to return to their campus in stages starting 1 March, with a capacity of between 70% to 100%, according to Senior Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

He was quoted by Bernama saying that the decision was made after the 12th Covid-19 Quartet Ministerial Meeting.

Among the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the KPT and the Ministry of Health (KKM) are students and staff who are complete and incomplete vaccinations are allowed to enter the campus, but those who are not fully vaccinated must take an RT-PCR test and have a negative result three days before entering the campus.

Hishammuddin mentioned that Covid-19 detection tests using the RTK-Ag method should also be done once a week for those who have not completed their vaccinations.

Meanwhile, only fully vaccinated existing and new international students are allowed to enter Malaysia and they are required to undergo a quarantine period of seven or five days if they’ve received their booster doses.

He also said that IPTs must have the capacity to accommodate students who are physically present and always adhere to strict teaching and learning SOPs.

It’s also reported that the government has also allowed IPTs to conduct hybrid or online studies.

Students should also comply with SOPs when it comes to sports and leisure activities, as well as adhering to the general SOPs such as wearing face masks, practicing physical distancing, and maintaining personal hygiene.

In every relaxation given by the government, the safety and health aspects of the people, including IPT students, remain a priority. In this regard, the government calls on all parties, including the administration of IPT, staff and students to comply with the SOP set with full discipline and responsibility.
