When shuttler Lee Zii Jia first announced his intention to go pro and break away from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), the backlash and subsequent banning drew many raised eyebrows from athletes and fans alike.
BAM had banned him from joining international competitions for 2 years, which he has tried to appeal.
Luckily, in a recent Instagram post, he announced that after a heart-to-heart talk with BAM president Tan Sri Norza Zakaria, the latter gave his blessing for Zii Jia to become a professional player.
Lee Zii Jia notes that Norza has given his blessings for the athlete to compete in the Asia Team Championships.
He is also grateful for all the guidance, nurture, and opportunities provided to BAM and considers his past and future achievements due to BAM and Malaysia’s support.
