Supermarket In Manjung Fined RM1,000 For Breaching SOPs After Videos Went Viral

Even the manager was given a RM1,000 compound for the ruckus that happened last week.

A supermarket in Manjung, Perak, which was crowded by customers was slapped with an RM1,000 fine for breaching Covid-19 SOPs.

The Manjung District Police has issued a statement regarding the incident, which was recorded by netizens and went viral went on social media.

Following the incident, the supermarket manager was called to the Manjung Headquarters (IPD) to give a statement to assist in the investigation.

A compound of RM1000 was also issued to the supermarket manager for violation of Covid-19 prevention standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The penalty is meted out under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).

Buying Frenzy As Colas Go On Sale

In the incident that took place on Friday, customers at the supermarket visitors jostled just to fight for promotional items.

They clearly ignored physical distancing as they tried to grab cartons of cola which were on sale.
