Our very own national cyclist Siti Nur Alia Mansor is the very first female competitor from Southeast Asia to join the European race UCI Women’s World Tour.

She is joining the race after signing on as a rider for Spain-based Canyon-SRAM Racing Team. Siti is also the first Southeast Asian woman to join a professional internationally-acclaimed cycling team.

Canyon-SRAM Racing Team is currently ranked fifth in the world rankings.

Siti was recruited by the former coach of Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG), Adam Szabo. Adam has moved to coaching the Canyon-SRAM Racing Team since last June and reached out to Siti to sign her up for the team.

However, it took her a month to consider and accept the offer.

This will be a stepping stone or start for me to chase bigger dreams, like competing at the Olympics. I will repay the sacrifices made by my family, coaches and the Terengganu cycling fraternity by bringing glory to Terengganu and Malaysia at the world stage one day.

However, she will return to Malaysia to compete in the 2020 Sukma, which is scheduled to take place some time in June 2022.
