Gardenia Prices Going Up Starting 1 December

Just when you thought that hike in prices for chicken and vegetables was bad enough, now it seems like local bread manufacturer Gardenia will be upping the prices of their bread as well starting 1 December.
A picture went viral recently showing the revised prices for Gardenia’s products including the Classic Original which will go up from RM2.38 to RM2.80 and local favourites such as Twiggies (from RM1.49 to RM1.80).

Netizens angry at the sudden increase
It’s been a difficult period for Malaysian consumers as prices of essential goods such as greens and poultry saw a significant increase, some up by as much as 3 times the original amount.

Many on the net were critical of the new prices, rueing the fact that they have to contend with this now after seeing the prices of other goods go up recently.

Some pointed out that this might be a sign of the country facing inflation, which, according to Investopedia, means the decline in buying power.
