The Health Ministry has given conditional approval for AstraZeneca and Sinovac vaccines booster shots for individuals aged 18 and above.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement that the booster dose for the AstraZeneca vaccine will be given after an interval of 6 months from the second dose while Sinovac booster doses will be given out after 3 to 6 months from the second dose.
The administration of booster doses of these two vaccine products to specific target groups will be detailed by the Covid-19 Booster Immunization Task Force (CITF-B) and will be notified from time to time. MOH would like to inform that the approval of this conditional registration requires information on the quality, safety, and effectiveness of the vaccine product to be monitored and evaluated based on the latest data from time to time. It is to ensure that the benefit over risk comparison of the vaccine remains positive.
