Malaysia Appointed Vice Presidency Spot At World Health Assembly 2022

Malaysia has been accorded with the Vice Presidency of World Health Organisation’s (WHO) World Health Assembly 2022 (WHA), according to the Health Ministry.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said on social media recently that Malaysia will take this opportunity to pursue a bigger role in the global health.
He also added that Malaysia is serving in the Executive Board of World Health Organisation from 2021 to 2024.
It is indeed a great honour for Malaysia to be accorded with the Vice Presidency of WHA and we will take this opportunity to pursue a bigger role in the global health.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin also expressed his gratitude for the nomination, thanking member countries for picking Malaysia for the Vice-Presidency.

What is the WHA?
According to the WHO, the WHA is the decision-making body of WHO and attended by delegations from all WHO Member States and focuses on health agendas.
The main functions of the World Health Assembly are to determine the policies of the Organization, appoint the Director-General, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed programme budget.
The Health Assembly is annually held in Geneva, Switzerland.
