This hot tip from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) is for everyone and especially for those in the Klang Valley who will be experiencing water supply disruptions starting today.

They advise anyone with a water filter at home to turn it off when there is no water supply.
In fact, if you are going out of the house for an extended period of time, like a day out or a vacation, turn your water filters off.
It doesn’t matter what brand of water filter you have, such as SK MAGIC, CUCKOO, COWAY, LG, or others.
This is because the water heating element will still function even though there is no water. At the same time, the built-in pump will try to pump the water that is not there.
As a result, the water filter may overheat and even cause fires.
So don’t take the risk, turn off your water filter when there is no water supply, no one is at home, or when it is not in use for an extended period of time.
