Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said it’s likely that Klang Valley can enter Phase 2 of the National Recovery Programme (NRP) soon.

He said 89.5% of the Klang Valley adult population has received complete vaccination, which is close to the herd immunity requirement, making the shift appear possible.

According to Ismail Sabri, at this rate the Klang Valley will have surpassed the herd immunity target, though he said it has not been discussed as there is no Cabinet at the moment. The Cabinet is set to be sworn in today.

“We will look at it in detail later. Maybe many other states can be moved into the next phase, so wait for the announcement,” he said while visiting the WTC mega vaccination centre yesterday, witnessing the one millionth vaccine recipient.

The three requirements in order to make the move to Phase 2 include the daily average Covid cases must be below 4,000, the utilisation of ICU beds must be at moderate level (or lower), and at least 10% of the adult population must be fully vaccinated.
