The Use Of GPs In Vaccinations Not Cancelled, Just Being Reevaluated
GPs might play a role once we determine whether we need booster shots and vaccinate those under the age of 17 years.

The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) issued a statement today addressing reports that the use of private health practitioners (GP) in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) has been cancelled.
According to CITF, the efforts to increase the capacity of PICK operations in the Klang Valley that started on 26 July, was effective. So much so that there is now a need to reduce the number of Vaccination Centers (PPV) in the area.
As of 22 August, 12 PPVs have been decommissioned. Between 23 and 29 August, 21 more PPVs will be closed in the Klang Valley. Out of these 32 PPVs, seven are GPs.
That said, the CITF did not rule out the possibility that these PPVs would be recommissioned once the decision about booster shots and vaccinating children between 12 and 17 years old have been made.
The CITF also said that they would make announcements regarding the matter from time to time and asked all parties to cease speculations.
