[Just In] Dine-In Allowed Starting Friday If You’re Fully Vaccinated

The relaxed SOPs only come into effect on Friday, 20 August 2021, though.

Caretaker Prime Minister Tan Sri Mahiaddin Md Yasin has announced more relaxations on SOP restrictions for states under Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan.

The additional facilities allowed for the social sector, in general, are as follows:

a. Dine-In activities are now ALLOWED for NRP Phase 1 states and beyond:

i. The Former Prime Minister also suggests that operators of restaurant premises provide more outdoor dining space at the premises for better ventilation. He said that the risk of transmission of Covid-19 virus is significantly higher indoors than outdoors.

ii. Owners of eatery premises must ensure that those entering the premises for dine-in MUST show a digital certificate COVID-19 vaccination which shows that the individual has received a complete vaccination.

iii. For couples who have completed their vaccination and wish to bring children 17 years of age and under for dine-in at the eatery premises, make sure that your children adhere to strict SOPs.

b. Sports, recreation, and leisure activities without physical contact and non-group (outdoor) are also PERMITTED for the states in Phase 1 NRP and beyond but are still restricted to the same district only.

i. Sports and recreational activities are very important to ensure a good level of mental health and physical fitness. Therefore, he said, this activity is allowed by complying with physical distancing and is done in open areas (outdoor) including semi-open from 6.00 am to 10.00 pm.

ii. Dine-in activities in restaurants or cafes on a clubhouse’s premises are PERMITTED in accordance with the dine-in permission. Premises owners need to ensure that those entering the premises for dine-in MUST show a COVID-19 digital vaccination certificate which shows that the individual has received a complete vaccination.

iii. The operation of the changing room or bathroom on the clubhouse premises is NOT PERMITTED. This is to prevent grouping after sports and reduce the risk of infection.
iv. Permitted activities are jogging, exercise, taichi, cycling, skateboarding, fishing, equestrian, archery, climbing, tennis (singles), badminton (singles), golf, motoring, and the like.

v. Permitted activities also include picnics and camping. Participation of children aged 17 and under is allowed with strict adherence to SOPs.

The NSC Special Session also agreed to provide additional facilities in the trade and distribution sector for Phase 1 of NRP and beyond. The facilities allowed are generally as follows:

a. Night Market and Sunday Market operations are PERMITTED

i. The relevant enforcement authorities, as well as the owners of the premises, must ensure that customers who enter the premises MUST show a digital certificate of COVID-19 vaccination to prove that the individual has received a complete vaccination.
