[Video] Flash Floods In Kedah, Several Dead More Missing

Several villages and residential areas near the Gunung Jerai mountain in the Yan district of Kedah were hit by flash floods and landslides on Wednesday (18 August) evening.
Heavy rains had caused a huge surge of water to flow down from the mountain’s waterfalls and made rivers overflow their banks.
More than 10 areas have been affected by the disaster and authorities are working to evacuate residents, including those who are undergoing Covid-19 quarantine at home.
Reportedly, three people have been confirmed dead due to the tragedy, while several people remain missing. The floods and landslides have also caused major property damage.
Search and rescue operations are still underway to locate the missing as well as provide aid to those in need.
Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and the Kedah Forestry Department denies that the disaster had been caused by logging activities in the area and said that the area remains a protected site.
Footage being shared online reveals just how bad the situation is over there with water torrenting down the mountain, rivers overflowing and residential areas looking more like wetlands and raging rivers.
