Health DG: 98% Of Cases Recorded On 10 August Were Categories 1 And 2

Only 385 cases were from categories 3, 4 and 5.

Around 98% of the 19,991 cases reported yesterday were within the first and second category according to Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

According to the Health Ministry, category 1 cases are asymptomatic while category 2 cases are described as symptomatic without pneumonia.

He said that, 19,606 cases (98.1%) were from categories 1 and 2, while a total of 385 cases (1.9%) were from categories 3, 4 and 5.

This is based on the current clinical condition of the cases. newly diagnosed COVID-19. Some of the cases remained in the same category throughout the period of infection, however some also changed the health status of the cases either improving to a lower category or declining to a higher category.

Category 3 patients are those who have pneumonia and require hospital monitoring while category 4 needs ventilation assistance and category 5 cases are classified as critical.

Overall, he said, only 4,632 cases or 23.2% of the total cases reported today had a history of Covid-19 immunisation.

Out of the 19,991 cases reported yesterday, Selangor had the highest number with 7,338 cases followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,374) and Kedah (1,830).
