Noraini Steps Down From Higher Education Minister Post, Second UMNO Minister This Week

She said she will follow UMNO’s decision.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad has resigned from her position with immediate effect.

In a statement released by the Parit Sulong Member of Parliament, she said that she will be following the decision made by UMNO’s Supreme Working Council on 3 August 2021.

She is the second UMNO Minister to resign after Lenggong MP Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah vacated the post of Energy and Natural Resources Minister on 3 August.

I as the UMNO Women Leader abide by the party’s decision and resign as Minister of Higher Education in the Federal Government Cabinet with immediate effect. The decision of the party will be implemented when the Parliament reconvenes.

She also expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Tan Sri Mahiaddin Md Yassin for giving her the opportunity to serve as a Minister.

I believe, we have done our best in managing the country to ward off the Covid-19 pandemic that has affected human lives all over the world. I will continue this effort even though I am no longer a Federal Cabinet Minister.
