“For work” is no longer a valid excuse for interstate travel starting today (18 July) until after Eid al-Adha. The police will not accept documents from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) as a valid movement permit during the four days.
The temporary restriction was a response to the increased number of vehicles on the highway, since Friday. This is according to Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.
“All roadblocks at state borders have been directed to increase enforcement and will not accept Miti documents as a valid movement approval.
“This is to avoid irresponsible parties from misusing the MITI permission letter as approval to cross states to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha,”

At the same time travelling for emergencies with police permission, health affairs, and vaccination are still allowed.
