It began with a social media post on Saturday (5 June) containing videos and photos, allegedly of Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, test driving a car during the lockdown.
Although the post has since been removed, the case is currently being investigated by the police under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Local Infectious Areas) Regulations 2021.
In his defence, his political secretary, Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden said that his boss was actually buying food on his way from Alor Setar To Kuala Lumpur. It just so happened that the restaurant was near a car showroom.
Sanusi is said to have did this before entering the highway. So it looked like he was driving a car from the showroom.
As a Menteri Besar, Sanusi is allowed to travel between the district and state lines. However, car showrooms are not allowed to open let alone allow customers to test drive their vehicles.
