Three deaths have been recorded involving children under the age of five in the first five months of 2021, which is the same number as Malaysia’s total throughout 2020, said Health Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

So far, the Ministry reported that 27 children have been admitted to paediatric intensive care units (ICUs) in 2021, with 19 of them being below five years old.

This is an increase compared to 2020, as the Health DG said that only eight children were admitted into the ICU last year and six of them were below the age of five.
