Hari Raya Aidilfitri SOP & MCO Updates To Be Announced This Evening

Malaysia could see 5,000 new Covid-19 cases daily by May and 50,000 active cases by Raya.

Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is expected to announce the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations during a press conference slotted for 4 pm this evening, (27 April).

The public is also expected to learn further updates on the current Movement Control Orders(MCO) that are enforced nationwide.

It is speculated that the country could see tougher guidelines set in place during the Aidilfitri celebrations to prevent further Covid-19 outbreaks.

Data from the Health Ministry (MOH) projected that Malaysia could record as many as 5,000 cases daily by the end of May if SOPs are not adhered to.

Six states in Malaysia including the Klang Valley are placed under the Conditional Movement Control Order (MCO) while 10 other states are under Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) from 15 – 28 April.

Malaysians are also prohibited from crossing state borders as the government moves to curb people from travelling to ‘balik kampung’ for the holiday season.
