PDRM: Interstate Travel Only Approved For Monday-Thursday, Not Weekends

The new ruling is part of a move to tighten interstate movements following the recent rise in Covid-19 cases.

The Royal Malaysian Police has confirmed that the approved interstate travel forms apply only for journeys from Mondays to Thursdays, not weekends.

According to Astro Awani, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said that this move is to tighten interstate movements following the recent rise in new Covid-19 cases across the country.

If the interstate travel permit is approved, it is only allowed on Monday to Thursday only, while travel on the weekend, which is Friday to Sunday, will not be approved.

However, this ruling does not apply for emergencies, deaths and long distance spouses.

Acryl Sani explained that the new schedule for approved interstate travel is in effect until after Aidilfitri (13th &14th May).

PDRM stressed that interstate travel only approved for the following purposes:

  • Employment
  • Emergency and Death ( nvolving immediate family members i.e. parents, children and siblings only)
  • Medical
  • Education
  • Long distance spouses

Interstate travel for social purposes such as weddings or banquets are strictly prohibited.

Stern action will be taken on any one who disobeys the ruling.
