Restaurants That Charge Over RM 1 For Water, You’re In Trouble With Selangor Authorities Now

There’s really no valid reason to charge more than RM 1 for a glass of water.

Restaurants and eateries around Selangor beware if you are charging more than RM1 for a glass of plain water as the the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Selangor authorities are cracking down..

Bernama reports that the KPDNHEP Selangor has issued 12 notices as of Thursday to premises that charge beyond the stipulated price which is RM1.00.

According to KPDNHEP Selangor Director Muhammad Zikril Azan Abdullah, this is part of the Ops Catut 8.0 (plain water) currently conducted on high-end restaurants, fast food joints, franchises and eateries and stalls across the country from 7 to 15 April.

Traders who are served the notice are given two to five working days to supply the necessary information as instructed.

He said the operation is carried out as patrons complained about the relatively high price of plain water charged at eateries around the country.

What if you want to lodge a complaint?

If you happen to find that the restaurant is charging you more than RM1.00 for plain water, you can actually lodge a complaint to KPDNHEP.
