Here’s something you might not realise; Although the National Security Council has allowed for eateries to operate until 10pm, this doesn’t necessarily apply to those located in malls.
MyBurgerLab posted a Public Service Announcement (PSA) on their Instagram page recently that the ruling applies to only restaurants outside of malls, meaning customers buying from their in-mall outlets still have to place orders before 7.20pm.
However, we need to update everyone that under the current KKM guidelines, Malls are still required to close by 8pm. In short, that means that restaurants in malls STILL have to close by 8pm.

But is that true?
So we dug up MKN’s SOPs and found that eateries can open until 10pm, but it only applies to:
- Restaurants
- shops/food stalls
- food trucks
- roadside hawkers
- circulating hawkers
- food court/center hawkers
- roadside food stalls/kiosks.
It seems that the SOP doesn’t mention malls specifically, even though it does mention that other types of shops such as grocery stores and convenience stores are only allowed to operate between 6.00 am to 8.00 pm.
After scouring the net for when malls close, it turns out that almost all malls seem to close at 8pm. So if you want to order food from restaurants in malls, then remember it has to be before that time.
