Imam of the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, Abdul Karim Omar, was confirmed positive for Covid-19 and is currently receiving treatment at the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

According to him, his family members who were also positive for the virus were treated at the Covid-19 Low Risk Quarantine and Treatment Center (PKRC) at the Malaysia Serdang Agricultural Expo Park (MAEPS).

In an Instagram live broadcast session, the imam said he underwent a screening test after a friend was confirmed with the infection.

He said that among the symptoms he experienced before being confirmed positive for Covid-19 was difficulty breathing in addition to a dry cough.

The imam also advised Muslims not to take the spread of the virus lightly and to always adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP).

The news about his infection caught the attention of the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri who prayed for Abdul Karim to recover quickly from COVID-19, through a video uploaded via his Instagram.
