Here’s some good news for 2021: 7.5 million domestic consumers are going to see a reduction of between 3.6% and 9.2% in their electricity bill for six months between 1 January until 30 June 2021.
Based on reports from Bernama, the government is giving out a RM0.20 rebate per killowatt hour (kWH) to domestic and industrial customers.
This is the first rebate given out consumers since July 2018.
This measure is taken following the government’s decision to extend TNB’s Second Regulatory Period under the Incentive Based Regulation (IBR) mechanism until Dec 31, 2021.

Meanwhile, TNB said that the rebate is for all customers including residential users with monthly consumption of 300kWh and below to assist the low income and vulnerable customers under this consumption band who are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
As for electricity tariffs, it will be maintained at 39.45sen/kWH for next year.
