Lewis Hamilton, yes the world Formula One champion, has tested positive for Covid-19.
According to a statement on Federation Internationale de l’Automobile’s (FIA) website, the racecar driver tested positive today during a mandatory pre-race PCR screening exercise for the Sakhir Grand Prix.
BBC reported that his team, Mercedes, revealed that Lewis woke up on Monday with mild symptoms. He was then tested twice for Covid-19, both times returning with a positive result.
Apart from mild symptoms, he is otherwise fit and well and the entire team sends him our very best wishes for a swift recovery.

Lewis is now undergoing self-quarantine and all his close contacts have been declared. Mercedes has said that they will name a replacement for the Sakhir GP in due course.
The Briton was tested three times last week alone, including on Sunday at the Bahrain International Circuit (which he won, BTW). However, he tested negative on each occasion.
Before exhibiting symptoms on Monday, he had also been informed that he was a close contact to a positive Covid-19 case “prior to arrival in Bahrain”.
