Ketari ADUN Young Syefura is in hot water after she breached the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for celebrating her birthday in Sepang.
She posted pictures of the celebration on her Instagram account on 10 November with the caption “Thirty-One” but netizens have responded negatively as many pointed out that she and her guests didn’t wear a mask or practice physical distancing.
There’s also the other thing about them celebrating in a district in Selangor – a state under Conditional Movement Control Order with around 100+ cases daily.
Many were especially concerned about the DAP rep travelling between Pahang – a green zone – and Selangor – a red zone.
She then deleted her post after backlash from the public and also disabled the comments on her Instagram account.
An apology was later posted on her Instagram and Twitter accounts, saying that she is willing to cooperate with law enforcement if she has committed any wrongdoing.
Syefura also explained that she actually lives in Selangor but goes back and forth to Ketari.
Saya memohon maaf jika tindakan saya melanggar sebarang SOP Covid-19. Saya x menggunakan sebarang kelebihan sbg seorg wakil rakyat utk bergerak di dlm Selangor, negeri saya bermastautin. Saya rela disiasat oleh pihak berkuasa jika tindakan sy melanggar sebarang SOP Covid-19. Tq.

People weren’t buying it
Her apology didn’t sit well with the public as many said that she didn’t walk the talk after criticising Plantation Industries and Commodities Minster Datuk Dr Khairuddin Aman Razali for his SOP blunder.

Always ready to have his take on a controversial issue, cartoonist Fahmi Reza also joined in with a caricature of Syefura and Khairuddin.
