Top Glove Confirms 17 Employees Are Covid-19 Positive

It affects less than 0.1% of their total staff.

Glove maker Top Glove has confirmed that 17 of their employees (or less than 0.1% of their total workforce) have been infected by Covid-19, according to a statement released by the company.

In total, the company has around 21,000 employees.

The manufacturer said that those infected by the virus were asymptomatic and didn’t show signs of an infection.

They were isolated following the swab test taken on 2 November and have since been admitted to hospital for treatment after their results came back positive.

Top Glove also added that they’ve conducted deep cleaning and sanitation exercises for affected factories, living quarters and company vehicles.

In tandem, contact tracing is underway and employees in close contact with the affected employees have been tested and put on home quarantine pending results. There is not impact on the operations of Top Glove.

Since the start of the pandemic, the company has benefited from the the surging demand for rubber gloves with the increase in Covid-19 cases.

It’s reported that their fiscal 2020 post-tax profit increased by 417% from last year.
