Health DG: Covid-19 Patients Running Away From Treatment Among Challenges Faced By Sabah Frontliners

The R0 for Sabah still maintains at 1.3, though it has gradually decreased.

Public health intervention is crucial to halt the exponential spread of Covid-19, but as we have seen, Sabah is facing challenges in dealing with the aftermath of the coronavirus.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah notes that this is because awareness and education of Covid-19 is lacking in Sabah.

Additionally, those who were asymptomatic but tested positive for Covid-19 refused to go to the hospital, requiring forceful intervention from healthcare personnel.

This required additional help from other frontliners like the police who will need to bring them to the hospital.

Dr Noor Hisham even noted that some patients would try to run away when they see frontliners like police or army officers come to their door.

He said that all these challenges faced on-ground made it difficult to contain the spread of Covid-19 in Sabah.

There have been a total of 535 new cases today in Sabah alone, making up 73.1% of the total new cases. All 6 deaths from Covid-19 today were reported from Sabah as well.

Daripada 732 kes baharu, 535 adalah dari Sabah (73.1%). Kes tertinggi adalah dari daerah Lahad Datu (115).

Dukacita dimaklumkan 6 kes kematian dilaporkan. Jumlah keseluruhan adalah 199.

5 kes adalah warganegara manakala kes ke198 adalah bukan warganegara. Kesemua kes dilaporkan di Sabah kecuali kes ke199.
