Covid-19: 5 New Clusters Discovered Yesterday, Here’s What You Need To Know

These clusters were discovered in Sabah, Labuan, and Selangor.

Five more new clusters were identified in Malaysia yesterday (11 October). Out of the five, three clusters were detected by the Health Ministry in Sabah, one in Labuan, and one in Selangor.

The three new clusters in Sabah have been named the Kasih Cluster, the Surat Cluster and the Khazanah Cluster.

Kasih Cluster

Discovered in Lahad Datu, the index patient (Case 12, 509) tested positive during a screening by health authorities on 27 September. The patient has since been admitted to the Lahad Datu Hospital for treatment.

Screenings conducted on close contacts have detected 33 more positive cases, while 1,804 individuals are still awaiting results.

Surat Cluster

Discovered in Sandakan, the index patient (Case 15, 097) tested positive after being screened for exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms. The patient has since been admitted to the Lahad Datu Hospital for treatment.

Through close contact tracing, 24 individuals tested positive while another 49 individuals are still waiting for their results.

Khazanah Cluster

Also discovered in Lahad Datu, the index patient (Case 14, 842) tested positive on 9 October and has since been admitted to the Lahad Datu Hospital as well.

Close contact tracing resulted in the detection of 13 more positive cases. Another 638 individuals connected to this cluster are still waiting for their results.

Meanwhile, in Labuan and Selangor, the clusters detected have been named the Bah Bundle Cluster and the Sungei Way Cluster, respectively.

Sungei Way Cluster

This cluster involves the Petaling and Gombak districts in Selangor and Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur. The index patient (Case 14, 307) tested positive on 7 October and has since been admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Close contact tracing found 17 more positive individuals, while another seven are still waiting for their results.

Bah Bundle Cluster

Discovered in the Federal Territory of Labuan, the index patient (Case 11, 771) tested positive on 2 October after returning from Sabah. The patient is currently in Labuan Hospital receiving treatment.

Close contact tracing found two more positive individuals. At the same time, 296 individuals connected to the cluster are still waiting for their results.
