PM Announces Kita Prihatin Package With Additional Financial Initiatives & Aid
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that the government will be introducing additional financial initiatives and aid under a new “Kita Prihatin” package.
The package aims to provide aid to the following groups of Malaysians:
- Families and single Malaysians under the B40 income group;
- Families and single Malaysians under the M40 income group;
- Employees from every industry; and
- Micro-entrepreneurs from every industry.
B40 family groups will receive a one-off RM1,000 cash aid, whereas single Malaysians under that income group will receive RM500.
On the other hand, M40 family groups will receive RM600; while single Malaysians in that group will receive RM300.
The cash aid will be distributed to eligible Malaysians automatically and no registration is required. These will happen in two phases: first in end-October 2020, and finally in January 2021.
Muhyiddin also announced the extension of the wage subsidy programme under Wage Subsidy 2.0, where RM2.4 billion will be allocated to help companies that are still affected by the pandemic and Movement Control Order).
