Carbon monoxide poisoning is deadly and gas leakages doesn’t only affect old cars but new ones as well.
According to reports by Bernama, National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) vice-chairman, Senator Datuk T. Mohan said that to know whether your car has a carbon monoxide leakage, you can notice it by:
- the temperature changes in the vehicle
- unpleasant odour
- feeling of nausea.
If these signs are obvious, the windows should be opened immediately and the air-conditioner and engine also to be turned off immediately.

Even if you’re feeling tired, Mohan said that drivers should not sleep in the car with the engine on and instead rest outside of the vehicle or find a place that has good air circulation.
Vehicle users should also ensure that the air-conditioner is serviced at least once in six months to prevent untoward incidents.
