Malaysia Closes Borders To Countries With Over 150,000 Covid-19 Cases, Including US & Saudi Arabia

Foreigners are prohibited from entry regardless of personal or professional ties to Malaysia.

Malaysia will close our borders to all citizens from foreign countries with over 150,000 recorded cases of Covid-19, beginning September 7, 2020.

The ban would prohibit the entry of foreign visitors regardless of personal or professional ties to the country.

Included in the travel ban are;

  • Malaysian foreign Permanent Residents (PR).
  • Malaysia My Second Home Pass holders (MM2H).
  • Expatriates in all categories including Professional Visit Pass (PVP) holders.
  • Resident Pass holders.
  • Spouses of Malaysian citizens (Spouse visa).
  • Foreign students (Student visa).

Among the countries in the blacklist are the United States (US), Brazil, Italy, France, and Saudi Arabia, in addition to the ban imposed on citizens from India, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

The government would release the full travel blacklist of countries, next week.

Based on data recorded by the World Health Organization (WHO), there are currently 23 nations with over 150,000 cumulative cases of Covid-19.

As of September 2, Malaysia recorded a total of 9,360 positive coronavirus cases with 128 fatalities.
