10 Covid-19 Facts The Health Ministry Wants You To Know

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to evolve, there is more and more information we need to pay attention to each day. Thankfully, as the Health Ministry handles more and more cases, they also learn more about how the virus behaves.

Here are ten important facts about the Covid-19 outbreak in Malaysia as of 31 August 2020, that the Health Ministry wants you to know about.

1. As of 31 August, six new cases were detected in the country. Of the six cases, two were from local transmission while the other four were imported. 

2. As of 31 August, six more patients have been discharged.

3. There was one Covid-19 death reported on 31 August. The victim in Kedah was from the Tawar cluster, which is also the largest currently active cluster in the country.

4. There have been 127 Covid-19 deaths nationwide so far.

5. A new positive case was been detected in the Telaga cluster, also located in Kedah. This brings the total number of cases in that cluster to five cases.

6. A new positive case has also been detected in the Tawar cluster. This brings the total number of positive cases in that cluster to 73.

7. A new cluster has been reported involving four crewmen on a ship. The cluster has been named Bunga cluster.

8. A total of 941 positive cases involved Malaysians and Permanent Residents (PR) returning to the country. They are given a mandatory quarantine order upon arrival. The Ministry also reported no local transmissions from this.

9. There are six states nationwide with green zone status. They are Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, and Sabah.

10. Malaysia’s Covid-19 recovery rate is 96.94%, among the highest in the world. Meanwhile, our Covid-19 death rate is 1.36%.
