New Sala Cluster Discovered in Kedah
All of the positive cases have been identified as family members to the index case.

The Ministry of Health identified another cluster in Kedah, known as the Sala cluster, bringing the total number to 3 in the state.

According to MOH, the first case involves a local man who was tested positive on 13 August.
A total of 4 individuals have been infected by the virus so far in that cluster, all of them being the first case’s family members.
MOH said that 80 close contacts to the index case have been tested with 76 awaiting the results.
The first case of the Sala cluster (case 9148) is in the Yan district in Kedah where a Malaysian man was identified as Covid-19 positive on Aug 13, via a clinical surveillance system for Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital there. Active case and close contact detections were conducted on Aug 14 with positive cases found on Aug 15.
