Child Car Seat Enforcement Postponed To End Of 2020
Government needs time to properly implement the rule.

Enforcement on the mandatory use of child restraint systems (CRS) or child car seats in private vehicles will be postponed until the end of 2020.
Until enforcement officially kicks in, Malaysians won’t be fined for ignoring the rule.
Starting January, the government made the use of child car seats mandatory for all personal vehicles. But enforcement and penalties for those disobeying the rule were held back allowing a 6-month grace period for Malaysians to prepare, only to be postponed again in July following the Covid-19 outbreak.

The Transport Ministry (MOT) explains that it needs the rest of the year to develop an action plan to properly implement the ruling and long-term solutions that would not trouble the rakyat.
MOT was also looking into cost-effective ways to implement the rule on public transportation such as buses as well as e-hailing services.
However, MOT reminded Malaysians it was still compulsory for road users to use child car seats while transporting kids.
Reportedly, only 44% of Malaysian road users employ CRS while on the road.
MOT said it would be focusing on advocacy and education to get Malaysians more concerned about safety.
