Even though a number of Malaysians reported otherwise, the police have disclosed that according to their records, they have not issued a single summon to anyone for not wearing masks while inside their private vehicle.
This was told to Malay Mail by Bukit Aman CID deputy director (Investigation and Legal) DCP Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid.
After checking with all states, not a single summons was issued on the matter of not wearing a mask in a private vehicle.

Malay Mail had contacted the police officer for information on the refund procedure for those who had been fined.

Following this, Mior advised those who believed they had been issued the RM1,000 compound for the “offence” to visit their nearest police station for clarification.
During his security briefing last week, Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob acknowledged the complaints that had been posted on social media, saying that those who had paid the summons could claim back their money from the Health Ministry.
He also reiterated that the mandatory use of face mask since 1 August only applied to instances when individuals were in crowded and public spaces. This includes public transport vehicles such as e-hailing vehicles.
Meanwhile, drivers and passengers travelling in their own vehicles with their friends and family do not have to wear a mask.
