Sarawak Imposes Travel Ban Between Zones For Two Weeks Starting 1 August

The Federal Government today approved the Sarawak government’s application to limit the movement of travel between zones in the state from 1 August to 14 August.
Senior Minister (Security), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said the districts are placed under two zones:
Zone One (Covid-19 Yellow / Red Zones)
- Kuching
- Serian
- Samarahan
Zone Two (Covid-19 Green Zones)
- Sri Aman
- Betong
- Sarikei
- Kapit
- Mukah
- Bintulu
- Miri
- Limbang
Any individual who wants to move between designated zones must first get permission from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), while movement within the zone is allowed.

Sarawak recently announced that travellers will have to undergo mandatory quarantine after the state recorded an increase in Covid-19 infections with a few clusters reported in the past few weeks.
The state is also looking at other measures such as shortening opening hours for businesses.
