“Green Lane” Travel Between Malaysia & Singapore To Start August 17

Malaysia and Singapore have agreed to allow cross-border travel between the two countries in mid-August, 2020.
Both countries have finally come to terms with standard operating procedures (SOP) to facilitate travel through the causeway via the Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) and Periodic Commuting Arrangement (PCA) travel scheme.
The schemes would allow for cross-border travel for official, business and work purposes between Singapore and Malaysia.
Application for travel can be made from August 10 onwards, while travel would most likely begin starting August 17.
Eligible travelers would have to abide by Covid-19 guidelines in both countries to allow for smooth entry and exit, and both Foreign Affairs Ministries would be releasing official travel SOP, soon.
Apparently, there are two other travel schemes between Malaysia and Singapore that are in the works, assumingly for non-business related travel.
But according to the Malaysian Foreign Affairs Ministry this would highly depend on the discipline and public observance of Covid-19 guidelines in both countries.
It is estimated that around 250,000 Malaysians commute between the two countries daily for work.
Before, the Malaysian government had also set plans to establish “green bubbles” or “green lanes” to allow for cross border travel between countries that have successfully managed the Covid-19 pandemic and have infection numbers under control.
