The husband of the highly popular YouTube couple SuguPavithra, known for their cooking videos, has been arrested by the police over domestic abuse allegations.

What You Need To Know: The Ipoh Magistrate Court granted a three-day remand order today for M.Sugu under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapon Act 1958. He is alleged to have attacked his wife S. Pavithra last night with a sickle at the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) delivery ward around 6pm yesterday, 21 July.

Who Said What: Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz stated that the police are currently investigating the case and it is believed that the incident happened over family issues. He confirmed Sugu’s arrest with The Star.

How Did It Get Here: One source told NST that the couple had been quarrelling since Monday as a fight broke out at the hospital parking lot at 10pm that day after visiting a relative.
The argument continued to the next day with the source claiming that Sugu wanted to meet his wife’s sister and brother-in-law at the hospital. Under the influence of alcohol, he hit his wife. Later, the hospital’s guard house received a call from a nurse saying that a drunk man brandishing a grass sickle was about to enter the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ward.
The Star’s source claimed that the fight was due to Pavithra not mentioning his name when she received the “Ipoh City Icon” title by the Ipoh City Council (MBI) on Monday, 20 July.
