After seeing an increase of those flouting Covid-19 preventive measures, the police will no longer advice the public but instead take stern action on those who flaunt the SOP during the Recovery MCO (RMCO), said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The number of cases is increasing, this is because the non-compliance with the SOP is increasing among the public. They think as if there are no more laws or the PKP has ended, so the PDRM has decided – no more warnings, no more advice – the PDRM will take stern action against anyone who violates the PKPP’s instructions.

Ismail also said that night clubs and entertainment centres are not allowed to operate during the RMCO period and mentioned that there are 37 cases involving pubs and night clubs.

The government, he said, through the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) and local authorities will increase monitoring and enforcement on nightclubs and entertainment centers.

They will also increase inspections and will take action on business owners and the public who do not comply with the SOP.

Owners can have their licenses suspended if they fail to comply.

I would like to state that, nightclubs and entertainment centers are still on the list of prohibited activities, or negative list.

Ismail also touched on restaurants which violate the SOP and said social distancing is a major issue reported by the PDRM as well as the compliance operations task force.

So we expect restaurant owners to note that, if they do not want action to be taken, please comply with every SOP approved by the government.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob

He said that that the public should be the eyes and ears for the authorities and report those who violate the SOP.
