In a cynical sense, it seems like the many ignorant Malaysians in defiance of the Covid-19 guidelines set during the Movement Control Order (MCO) are doing some good for the country…

According to the Home Ministry, the government had collected RM5.93 million in fines from businesses and individuals through the nationwide lockdown period from March till June 2020.

Reportedly police had issued over 11,000 summons to members of the public as well as businesses and companies who flaunt standard operating procedures (SOP), with 21,000 or so people arrested and charged in court.

Previously, authorities had also told Malaysians to report to them of any activities they witness in violation of Covid-19 guidelines and advised Malaysians to remain disciplined in following rules during the pandemic.
