Another Covid-19 Cluster Detected At Johor Old Folks Home Today
The cluster was identified following the death of a senior citizen at the emergency department of Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom, Johor.

The Health Ministry has detected another Covid-19 cluster in an old folks home in Kluang, Johor today, 20th July.
The index case in this cluster was a 72-year old Malaysian male (Case 8770) who was a resident in the old folks home with chronic high blood pressure and suffered from a stroke.
He developed a fever and cough on 10th July and was referred to Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom, Johor seven days later (17th July) but died upon arrival in the emergency ward and was confirmed Covid-19 positive after his death.
Following that, active case detection was conducted with 39 close contacts tested as of noon today.
Of those screened, 14 tested positive for the novel coronavirus while 18 tested negative. The ministry is still awaiting the results for 7 tests.
The cluster currently includes 11 senior citizens who are occupants of the old folks home, one employee and one family member.
The Health Ministry is currently investigating the source of the Covid-19 infection.
