North America

The United States (US) continues to be the worst affected country by the Covid-19 pandemic with over 3.5 million confirmed cases across the country and over 137,000 deaths. Cases are also reportedly soaring in the states of Florida and Texas which are being hit the hardest.

Florida appears to be the epicenter of the pandemic in the US, recording more than 330,000 cases and 5,000 deaths. Yet authorities in the US still struggle to maintain effective Covid-19 prevention measures even having allowed Florida’s Disney World amusement park to reopen to the public.

Canada however seems to be faring way better than its southern neighbor, having managed to flatten its infection curve and shifted into the “new normal”.

Overall, the country records a total of 109,669 cases including 8,839 deaths.

South America

Brazil has been hit hard by the pandemic. With an infected President, over 2 million confirmed cases, and more than 76,000 fatalities, it stands as the second-worst affected country by the coronavirus.

However, medical experts are stating that the infection rate in Brazil was “stabilizing”, spreading not as quickly as it did before.

Throughout Latin America, Brazil, Peru, Chile, and Mexico report the highest fatalities from Covid-19 in the region.

Europe

Most European countries such as Germany, France, the Netherlands, and even the United Kingdom (UK) have managed to suppress the pandemic and slowly begin to reopen their borders.

Spain however was struck with an outbreak of Covid-19 and re-instituted lockdown measures in certain parts of the country as more than 150 coronavirus clusters have been detected nationwide.

In Russia, Covid-19 cases continue to rise. With a total of 765,437 confirmed cases and 12,257 deaths, the country is the fourth-worst hit country by the pandemic.

Middle East & Africa

Countries in the Middle East are reportedly still struggling with the Covid-19 pandemic. The Republic of Iran remains the worst affected country in the region with a total of 269,440 confirmed cases and reported 13,791 deaths.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia records 245,851 cases in total with 2,407 fatalities.

On the African continent, South Africa was hit with a ‘coronavirus storm” and records 337,594 cases and 4,804 deaths, making it the fifth-worst affected country by the Covid-19 virus.
