Members of Parliment (MPs) questioned the decision of the Malaysian government to roll out the Pelan Jana Semula Ekonomi Negara (PENJANA) economic stimulus package without debating the initiative in Parliament.
Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin explained that it was for Malaysians who needed an immediate fix as the country was reeling from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The question was put forward by Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (PKR-Pakatan Harapan) who added that considering the amount and impact of PENJANA, it should be debated in Parliament.
Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal (Warisan-Semporna), who also questioned the move, said that the Sabah State Assembly was able to convene for 3 days and said that a discussion was needed to remove doubts from the people.
