Dr Adham Reminds M’sians That Covid-19 Fight Not Over Yet

Just because Malaysia is in its recovery movement control order (RMCO) phase, this does not mean that we can let our guard down. The Health Ministry says it is up to the public to ensure that we don’t face another wave of Covid-19 infections.
All we have to do is adhere to the set standard operating procedures (SOP), including wearing a mask in public, regularly washing or disinfecting our hands and practising social distancing.
While most of the country has been categorised as green zones with no active cases, Selangor yesterday recorded double-digit active cases again after four new imported cases were reported.
This brings the latest tally of active cases in Selangor to 10, with six being local cases.

Sultan of Selangor has expressed concern about what he considers to be violations of health SOPs.
The Sultan himself had witnessed the public ignoring guidelines by not wearing face masks and failing to social distance, saying he was worried that if the public ignored these “new normal” practices, a second wave of infections would be impending.
The Sultan’s sentiment was echoed by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba who said that the time has come for the people to shoulder the responsibility of being “frontliners” in the fight against Covid-19.
Personnel of the Health Ministry (MOH), National Security Council, police, Rela, army and several other agencies which have been in the frontline of the battle can now divert (part of) this responsibility to the people.

According to Dr Adham, this meant that the people had to take greater responsibility on their own actions to ensure Malaysia can be declared free of Covid-19 according to the six criteria set by the World Health Organisation.
He mentioned that the reopening of schools on 15 July will be a big test in the fight against the contagious virus, highlighting that a Covid-19 school cluster is the last thing we want.
The people need to fully abide by the standard operating procedure (SOP) set under the new normal so that we can return to our normal way of life.

Besides Selangor, only two other states record double-digit Covid-19 active cases, they are Negeri Sembilan (11 cases) and Sabah (10 cases). Meanwhile, Perak, Penang, Kedah, Perlis, Pahang, Melaka, Terengganu, Sarawak and Kelantan are categorised as green states with no active cases.
