Halal Certification Process To Be Reviewed To Make It Faster, Says Religious Affairs Minister

The Halal application process is going to be reviewed as the government is looking to to speed up the procedures.

Minister For Religious Affairs Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri said that they’re looking into relate to the shorter waiting periods following an application and reducing the documentation involved in an application for a halal certificate.

Indeed, the government intends to look into the issue of halal certification comprehensively so that all issues facing the industry in obtaining halal certificates will be overcome. We seek to facilitate not make it more difficult.

According to MalaysiaKini, although they are looking to quicken the process, Zulkifli said it will still done in accordance with the stipulated terms and standards.

At the same time, the public, especially Muslims, must also be very careful about the halal logos displayed on the products purchased, as well as ensuring that the logo used is authentic and recognized by the authorities,

He gave his comments when asked by the media on parties using halal certificates on food products, thus confusing consumers especially Muslims.
